From the wild
to your walls
where love becomes legacy
and adventure becomes art.
Your dog is your whole world. You plan your days around giving them their best life, whether that means paddleboarding on the James, hiking shaded trails, or tossing the ball across the backyard until the sun goes down.
It’s the little things. . . those sun-soaked, snuggled-in, dirt-covered moments that end up meaning the most and deserve more than a spot in your camera roll.
They deserve to be honored and remembered in a way that lasts.

We get 14 summers with our dogs, if we’re lucky. Don’t let this season slip by.
Your only regret will be not doing this sooner. It’s easy to think there will always be time. Another season. A better moment. But our dogs change fast, and honestly, so do we. You don’t always realize you’re in the good old days until they’ve already passed.
I learned this the hard way with my soul dog, Kona. She taught me just how much these moments matter—and why they’re worth preserving.
Whether your dog is just starting their story or has been by your side for years, this chapter is worth celebrating.

“Kristen goes above and beyond to ensure the entire process is fun and enjoyable.
I felt no pressure or stress. She is so passionate about her job that you are instantly confident you are in good hands.
We received the final portraits and it’s likely to hang in our house until we are empty nesters. I never thought the five of us (including the dog) could ever look so good. Highly recommend.”

You have questions
I have anwers
-
Just like there's multiple sizes of doggos, there's a variety of adventures to be had.
Maybe you're extra outdoorsy and want to paddle the Roanoke River.
Maybe you want to hike the Buttermilk Trail, stopping to taking a dip in the river.
And just maybe your pup's idea of an adventure is hanging out in your own backyard, playing fetch til they pass out.
Wherever you and your pup find yourselves in nature, we can make sure to give your put their perfect day. -
Not to worry! In fact, the majority of the dogs I photograph stay on leash. The only time they should be off-leash is when we’re working in a securely fenced-in or private area. (Or if you are 100% confident in your pet’s recall ability in any situation.)
Staying on a leash can also help super wiggly pups stay in place for the shot.
Don’t worry though, all leashes will be meticulously removed from any portrait ordered in artwork form.
If your pet normally wears a harness, prong, or e-collar, that’s okay to use while walking, but please bring a flat collar they can wear for the actual photos.
-
For you pups that may need a bit of time and/or space, please know that this is also okay.
After over 20 years working with dogs, and having both my own pup who needed time to warm up to people and another who needed a bit of space with other dogs, I’ve seen it all.
I usually start by ignoring your dog and keeping a bit of distance, working slowly to let them become acquainted and take the lead in approaching me. We usually become fast friends, but for the ones who really need some space, I’ll work with my long lens, at a distance, giving them lots of space to only focus on you! -
The possibilities are endless!

As soon as possible; I only take a limited number of clients per month and tend to book out 5-7 weeks in advance. Fall/Winter is my busiest time, so reach out as early as possible.
You don’t need to pick an actual date to book a session, just the month and we’ll determine the date once we get a little closer to it.
If your pup is nearing the end of their journey: There's no way around saying this - this part just fucking sucks. Having been in this situation many times, I know how heartbreaking it is and how quickly it can happen.
Please let me know when we chat. as I leave flexibility in my schedule for these sessions. I’ll do everything I can to adjust and squeeze your family in as soon as possible. -
Let’s chat! I’d love to learn more about your vision and help you decide if I’m the right photographer for you.
