Your dog’s passion & the love of the hunt showcased through custom field photography.

Step 1: Plan your hunt

We’ll start with a planning call where we’ll plan all the details of your hunt and how you’ll enjoy your portraits.

Hunts can take place at preserves (like Orapax Hunting Preserve in Goochland, Virginia,) Virginia State Forests and Wildlife Management Areas.

I’m available for travel and other locations as well.

Step 2: Flush that covey

I’ll join your hunt and document your badass bird-dog in the field. Whether flushers or pointers, I’ve got you covered.

And as a hunter myself, I know my way around guns. You can be confident I’ll be there to get the shot AND stay out of the way - so you can get yours, too.

Step 3: Create beautiful artwork

We’ll choose your favorite portraits and finalize how you’d like to display them around your home.

Pretty soon you’ll be enjoying your beautiful ready-to-display lasting artwork of your sweet furry friend.

Celebrate your bond, tell their story, and honor your faithful partner.

Whether you prefer your bird-dog large and in charge over the fireplace, or their story told through a bespoke leather album, you’ll be proud to see your dog in action every day. . . even when they’re snoring on the couch beside you.

Badass in the field, snuggle buddy at home.

Document your bird dog’s passion, drive, and teamwork through upland hunt photography & short films.

Videography can be added to any photography session.

You may have some questions. . .

  • Oh, don’t you worry about that one bit, I can handle it.

From GSPs in their first year of training to bouncy Springers their first time in the field, to completely finished Brittanys, I’ve successfully photographed bird dogs in the field at all levels of training.

Your dog does not have to be fully finished to enjoy an upland hunt portrait session.

  • Limited waterfowl hunt sessions are availabled for qualified dogs and gunners. Let’s chat to see if we’re a good fit for each other.

  • There are many preserves around Richmond that we’re able to get out into the field.

I’m also available for wild hunts and travel.

There are no travel fees for sessions in the Richmond, VA area.

I serve Charlottesville & the DMV regularly and am always open to travel anywhere in the US.

Please reach out if you’d like a custom quote for travel.

Follow me on Instagram for the most up-to-date travel schedule. @kristenmurrayphotography

If you're in an area where I'm already planning to be, any travel fee will be waived.

  • As soon as possible; I only take a limited number of clients per month and tend to book out 5-7 weeks in advance. Fall/Winter is my busiest time, so if you are interested in an upland hunt, reach out as early as possible. You don’t need to pick the actual date to book a session, just the month and we’ll determine the date once we get a little closer to it.

  • Let’s chat! I’d love to learn more about your vision and help you decide if I’m the right photographer for you.

Click here to schedule your consultation.

  • Upland Hunt sessions start at $1350 and includes $1,000 to put towards artwork. It also includes a pre-session styling & design consultation, photography coverage of the hunt up to 3 hours, travel within the Richmond, VA area, and a private portrait reveal.

Some clients choose to only invest the initial $1,350 while others choose to invest $8,500 + on artwork from the day.

As everything is custom, there’s a huge range in what clients invest. We’ll discuss pricing and artwork options on our discovery call, where I can give you a better idea of where you’ll fall in that range, based on what you’d like to create.

Hi, I’m Kristen,

And this little orange and white birdy Britt is Cedar. When she’s not chasing feathers, you can find her in the cutest sleeping positions or tormenting our older pups. (She still has a lot of puppy energy.)

As a bird hunter myself, I know how to get the shots you want, while staying low and out of the way so you can get yours, too.

Check out the Project Upland and Hunting Dog Confidential magazines to see some of my published work.
