I don't typically direct sessions. I show up, pay attention, and document the day as it unfolds. The relationship between a hunter and a dog built over years, the specific way a morning feels in a flooded timber blind, the moment after the flush when everyone looks at each other in awe.

From the first step into cover to the walk back to the truck. Preserve hunts, wild land, driven shoots; wherever you hunt, I'm there for the whole thing. The people, the dogs, the land, the camaraderie, and the way it all fits together.
Includes: Preserve hunts, wild public land, driven pheasant, dove. Focus on people, dogs, or both — your call.
Duration: Morning or afternoon hunt. (I typically prefer the afternoon light for upland, but we'll plan around what works for the hunt.)

Duck blinds, flooded timber, goose fields. The mornings you wait for all year; the dark before sunrise, dogs retrieving falls, woodies on the strap. I meet you where you already hunt, or can connect you with a guide who knows the water.

Session
Your dog in the field, doing what she does. On point, mid-retrieve, quartering through cover. The working images, the relationship, the portrait. For pointers, flushers, and retrievers. Any breed, any level of training.

Drills
When the timing for a full hunt doesn't work out, retrieve drills get us the action images anyway. You bring the birds, we find a field or a creek, and we document your dog doing what she does best.

Legacy Sessions are for the dogs approaching retirement, or already retired and simply deserving of one last adventure in the field. Because every great hunting dog deserves to have their story remembered.

The Process

Connect
Tell me about the hunt, the dog, the land. I want to understand what makes this specific; what we're documenting and why it matters to you.

Plan
We talk through timing, location, light, and season. Fall books 5–7 weeks out. Some hunts require advance planning. We figure this out together.
03
Hunt
I show up before light. I stay until the story is told. I don't direct, I document. The session ends when the hunt ends, not when a timer goes off.

Enjoy
Your gallery is ready within three weeks. We go through the images together, choose what goes on your wall, and I handle the rest.

Fall and winter book 5–7 weeks out, sometimes longer for specific dates. If you're thinking about hunting season, reach out now. Spring and summer have more flexibility.

I go where the work takes me. From Central Virginia to Canon Beach, Oregon, to Caringorms, Scotland, and beyond, no where is too far.
Travel fees may be applied, but will be waived if I will already be in the area.
Now booking Scotland for mid-August 2026. (Travel fees waived.) -
No need to choose. Most sessions end up focusing on the dogs working, the people in the moment, and the relationship between them.
But if you want the focus somewhere specific, tell me and I'll shoot accordingly.

Not at all. I've photographed first-year dogs and finished dogs and everything in between. The work is about who your dog is, not how steady she is on point.

Some of the best work comes from difficult conditions. Fog, cold, wet dogs. . . that's atmosphere. We only reschedule for genuinely unsafe conditions, not just grey skies and a little rain.
If the birds are flying, we’re hunting. -
I hunt. I'm out there with my own Brittany, Cedar, chasing woodcock and wood ducks. I understand what's happening in these moments because I've been in them. The dogs aren't props, they're the point.
