As far as liking water. . . short answer, yes
Long answer: Since this event is in partnership with Paws to Swim, the winning dog should be comfortable in the water.
However, your dog does not need to put their face underwater—just enjoy swimming! The swim package is designed for dogs who love the water, whether they’re dock diving pros or just happy paddlers. -
Absolutely not. From fully trained working dogs, to nervous pups, to 8 week old puppies that don’t know sit; I’ve worked with them all.
For nervous pups, I have a very long lens and can keep a distance while still capturing your dog’s personality. However for their sake, if your dog is super fearful or overly human-reactive, this might not be the best fit for them at this time. You may consider an animal behaviorist to help them find some confidence prior to a portrait session.
(This said, I’ve yet to run into a scenario where keeping distance with my long lens wouldn’t work.)
