Swim Time!

Last year, this pup almost drowned both of us while out on the river. He under-estimated how far we were from the shore when he jumped off the paddleboard and knocked me off. He didn’t have a life vest on, couldn’t make it to shore and also couldn’t climb back on the board.

Do you know how scary it was trying to lift a 60lb pup over you head back onto the board when he’s freaking out and you can’t touch the bottom?

Well, it’s almost paddleboard season and I’m determined NOT to have this happen again!

Enter Paws To Swim.

Deeks had his first swim lesson with them today and I can’t wait to go back. They were awesome! Within 10 minutes they had him going from flailing around to swimming calmly, focused on the toy. Lots of treats and praise; Deeks had a blast!

I think with a few more lessons, he’ll grow even more confident in the water and can keep up with his half-river otter siblings. I’m such a proud dog mom!
